First off let me say that I love all animals especially dogs and if you are reading this you probably are too!! We are going to talk about some things you as a potential dog owner should know before adopting your new best friend and some things you should avoid when looking for a potential partner in crime. This blog is intended to help my fellow dog lovers with some tips that could make the process easier.

When owning a dog it can be quite expensive, some of these expenses are food/snacks, training, collar, leash, toys and even grooming equipment. When adopting a dog make sure you are financially stable and also beware that on top of of all of the things that are mentioned you also got to be aware of medical bills for those times where your dog might be sick or hurt. Do your research on Dog insurance plans. They can be very helpful if you get the right plan that works for you.
Many people make a mistake of meeting a dog for the first time and right then and there decide that they want that dog. All I ask of you is to not jump to that conclusion right away but rather to take your time, maybe foster that dog first to get a feel of how that pup might react when at your house and ultimately see if you and the dog are compatible or not. A dog is an commitment. They need us and they are the greatest gift.
You would be surprised how many people don’t do their research when it comes to finding the right dog for them. It is important to look at things like the breed of the dog, the age, and even things like their energy levels and how often that breed sheds. Making sure you are equipped with all the knowledge about the breed you choose before you bring that baby home. It will make it such a better transition for you and your dog.
I think we can all agree that puppies are the cutest thing in this world and that they are just a bundle of joy and happiness. But people do tend to overlook the fact that they are a lot of work as you have to train them and socialize them so that they can behave in public especially around other dogs. Also from experience you might want to keep your shoe laces away unless you like them chewed up. lol. What i’m ultimately trying to say don’t just throw away the option of adopting an older dog as they are most likely already trained amongst other things. They need love too. If we don’t adopt the older dogs they end up getting euthanized. Thats a heartbreaking fact. Puppies are great but a dog that is 2 or 3 years old is also a great option.

For those wondering why am I doing this blog, its my love for dogs. I am a proud owner of a Pug. She is 15 years old as of this year. She has been with me since 4 weeks old. She started my love for dogs. Ive also been a proud owner of a Pitbull. She was one of the most amazing dogs. (Hence the image of my dogs all over my blog) We had to give her up to a family who had the space and time for her. Due to that experience of losing my dog, I wanted help give some advice how to get through this big decision.
When I was younger I at times envisioned myself to be a veterinarian because I had a love for all animals and would love to help those people who just want their pet to get better. Essentially what I am trying to do here with this blog is help you… a dog lover like me, find the right dog for you.
